Job description

Ensure that the day-to-day activities within the marine team are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with the company HSEQ policies.

Ensure that all activities are carried out in conformance with laws and regulations, contractual requirements, relevant management system and asset HSEQ plan.

The Marine Supervisor shall assist the OIM in their functions, perform any duties assigned by them and undertake marine operations and routine maintenance within their area of the unit.

Accountabilities

  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentorship and set accountabilities and expectations for all members of the marine team, delegating as required. Complete team annual performance reviews and develop training plans as required
  • Responsible for all marine, vendor and subcontractor activities on the installation including HSEQ, personnel and any employee relation issues
  • Ensure safe offloading activities according to manuals and procedures
  • Responsible for the safety in their area of authority and shall ensure subordinates, including sub-contractors, possess the necessary safety training at any time
  • Ensure adequate team competency coverage to carry out safe operations
  • Assess marine personnel within the Competency Management System
  • Ensure asset integrity through proactive / reactive barriers and SECE’s as defined in the asset ‘Safety Case / Written Scheme of Examination’
  • Liaise closely with Independent Competent Person (ICP), Class and Flag State during surveys / audits to ensure regulatory compliance
  • Monitor PM backlog and maintain all SECE’s maintenance completed on time, in accordance with asset performance standards / KPI targets – raising deferrals where required and ensuring appropriate level of risk assessment carried out
  • Responsible for raising any management of change requests and then implementing on approval
  • Participate in incident investigations, populating Synergi as required
  • Ensure compliance with safe work procedures and ‘control of work’ in accordance with procedures
  • Participate in permit to work audits and active monitoring
  • Ensure that the structural loads whilst moored or transit do not exceed the maximum permissible load for the vessel
  • Maintain the installation’s stability within limits
  • Supervise loading and unloading of supplies and equipment
  • Ensure materials management process for spares / stock levels and consumables is effective.
  • Deputize and perform the duties of OIM as / when required.
  • Carry out duties in accordance with Operations Manual Part 5, Offshore Emergency Response Plan (ERP)

 

Job Requirements

  • Barge Supervisor Endorsement/Certificate according to IMO Resolution A.891(21)/A. 1079(28)
  • STCW II/2 Master Mariner Certificate (unlimited) at time of employment
  • Tankerman Highest Grade/Dangerous Cargo Endorsement for Oil, at time of employment
  • Fluent English language

Skills and Experience Requirements

  • Significant marine experience at supervisory level from tankers or mobile offshore installations
  • Committed to highest level of business ethics and integrity
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant marine management processes, techniques and legislation and apply it in the workplace
  • Good leadership skills and be a team player and have a high degree of self and team motivation
  • Good communications ability (written and verbal), including handovers and able to set clear expectations and accountabilities
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships between all personnel including operators, vendors, contractors, subordinates, peers, and superiors
  • Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of safe system of work systems (ePTW) and participating in assessing the risk management 
  • Experience in competency assessment preferred
