Job description
Ensure that the day-to-day activities within the maintenance team are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with the company HSEQ policies.
Ensure that all activities are carried out in conformance with laws and regulations, contractual requirements, and relevant management systems.
The Lead Mechanical Engineer shall assist the Maintenance Supervisor in their functions and undertake operational maintenance / repair of the installation.
Accountabilities
- Provide leadership to the Mechanical team so that all works are carried out in accordance with the relevant maintenance management system and comply with all statutory requirements.
- Support all planned and unplanned maintenance activities with regard to resources and operational requirements, which includes the scheduling of activities to suit the needs of the operation, asset shutdowns and start-ups.
- Daily supervision of the team of mechanical technicians and monitoring performance.
- Participate in daily work planning meetings, preparing / reviewing work control certificates, risk assessments and isolation plans ensuring compliance with control of work procedure and safety rules.
- Apply technical knowledge to determine equipment failures and identify appropriate solutions in order to develop a repair solution for onboard equipment.
- Actively participate in Independent Competent Person, (ICP), Class and Flag surveys / audit work to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Ensuring timely completion of safety critical work, Priority1 Criticality1 (P1C1).
- Carry out regular reviews of current backlog work and integrating into the weekly 7 day planning.
- Worksite supervision of mechanical technicians, vendors and contractors.
- Actively participate in safety briefings and toolbox talks.
- Provide comprehensive and detailed handovers and communicate lessons learnt across shifts.
- Ensure technicians timely update of work reports and completion of work orders.
- Perform duties as Nominated Area Authority (NAO) in their areas of responsibility.
- Perform the role of isolation authority and verifier as required.
- Management of ‘Flange Break’ register in compliance with procedures.
- Management of ‘F-Gas’ register.
- Responsible for equipment condition monitoring - collection of equipment vibration data and lubrication sampling, review of results and ensuring actions are followed up.
- Ensure work requests are sufficiently detailed, clearly defining the scope of work or nature of problem along with basic planning information.
- Check and verify critical spares along with the Storekeeper and ensure adequate stocks of operating spare parts and consumable items onboard.
- Assess maintenance personnel within the Competency Management System.
- Participate in permit to work audits and active monitoring.
- Familiarize themselves with relevant statutory regulations and ensure that equipment remains in compliance with such regulations.
- Contribute to continuous updates of control documents
- Carry out duties in accordance with Operations Manual Part 5, Offshore Emergency Response Plan (ERP)
Job Requirements
- STCW III/2 Chief Engineer (Unlimited) at time of employment.
- Fluent English language
Skills and Experience Requirements
- Significant experience of working in Mechanical or Maintenance department on an offshore installation (FPSO preferred) or within shipping.
- Committed to highest level of business ethics and integrity.
- Good leadership skills and be a team player and have a high degree of self and team motivation.
- Excellent communications ability (written and verbal) and able to set clear expectations and accountabilities
- Able to read interpret and apply information from drawings, reports and manuals.
- Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of safe system of work systems (ePTW) and participating in assessing the risk management
- Working knowledge of CMMS systems (STAR).
