Job description

Ensure that the day-to-day activities within the maintenance team are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with the company HSEQ policies.

Ensure that all activities are carried out in conformance with laws and regulations, contractual requirements, and relevant management systems.

The Ballast Control Room Operator is responsible for the running control of the stability of the Ship, its position and draught, and shall assist in the stability calculations. 

Accountabilities

  • Responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day activities of him selves and his/her peers, are carried out in a safe and healthy manner and that the impact of such activities on the environment is within acceptable limits
  • Ensure to be informed to where supply vessels, stand-by vessels and helicopters are located, and shall keep records of this information in the ship's logbook
  • Monitor on the cargo and ballast control panel
  • Monitor the inert gas pressure and oxygen content of cargo tanks
  • Monitor all marine alarms and carry actions in accordance with instructions.
  • Check that ballast and cargo valves are function properly
  • Report faults discovered with valves in the ballast and cargo system to the Marine Supervisor /Chief Officer
  • Carry out such work as has been required by his/her superior and duties in accordance with Operations Manual, Part 5, Offshore Emergency Response Plan (ERP) 

Job Requirements

  • Ballast Control Operator Certificate (IMO 891/1079)
  • GOC / GMDSS Certificate
  • Fluent English language

Skills and Experience Requirements

  • Relevant marine experience from tankers or mobile offshore installations
  • Committed to highest level of business ethics and integrity
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant marine management processes, techniques and legislation and apply it in the workplace
  • Be a team player and have a high degree of self and team motivation
  • Excellent communications ability (written and verbal), including handovers
  • Demonstrated understanding and working knowledge of safe system of work systems (ePTW) and participation in assessing the risk management
